Mine Production Progress Tracking from Dated Surveys

Two surveys a month apart contain the month's production — once someone separates it from noise, overbreak and work outside the plan. STREAM's Production / Progress module classifies the ground movement between dated surveys against project boundaries and the design surface: in-project production, design overbreak, unrecorded work, reversed movement and dead band. It scans every dated survey in the project rather than a single period, and produces one report with planned, achieved and remaining volumes.

Coming soon to STREAM. This page describes the module ahead of its release.

What is survey-based production tracking?

Survey-based production tracking measures what was actually moved by differencing successive surfaces — drone or LiDAR surveys — instead of counting truck loads. The difference alone is not production: some of it is survey noise, some is work beyond the design, some lies outside every project.

In STREAM a project is a boundary, a design surface, a baseline (T0) and tolerances. T0 is the ground before work began; it tells whether each place should be cut or filled. Movement is classified against those, and project totals and period totals are computed along two independent paths that must agree — if they do not, the panel shows the difference.

Projects: pit, waste, road, platform

Each project links a boundary area, a design surface, a T0 baseline and overbreak / overfill tolerances. If a link is missing the dialog names it. Two projects' boundaries must not overlap — the same volume would be counted twice.

Periods from dated surveys

Assign a date to each survey scenario; two consecutive dated surveys form a period. For each period you get days, in-project production, overbreak, unrecorded work, total and weekly rate.

A balance that explains the total

Total movement is broken down into in-project production, design overbreak, area without design, reversed movement, dead band and unrecorded work, next to planned, achieved, remaining and volume-weighted progress.

Thresholds you set, never invented

The audit inputs — dead band, significance and blocker thresholds, coverage threshold, bulking factor, balance tolerance, bench height and the others — all start empty. STREAM never invents a threshold or a site measurement.

Tonnes, weekly target, estimated completion

With an in-place density on the project, production is also given in tonnes; with a weekly target the last period's rate is compared with it, and an estimated completion is projected from the rate of the last three periods.

Findings you can act on

Design overbreak, area without design and unrecorded work are listed with project, period and quantity. Record a decision on a finding, jump to it on the map, and show the last period's class map on the terrain.

Report and exports

A PDF report plus finding CSV, period CSV, a georeferenced class raster (GeoTIFF) and over-break outlines as DXF. If the scope is incomplete the outputs are locked — not hidden — and the reasons are listed one by one.

Frequently asked questions

What data do I need?

At least two dated surveys of the site as terrain scenarios, a boundary area per project, a design surface and the T0 baseline — the ground before work began.

What is the ± next to a figure?

The uncertainty derived from the noise measured on stable ground outside the project boundaries. When it cannot be measured it is not shown.

What is the difference between overbreak and unrecorded work?

Design overbreak is work inside a project boundary that goes beyond the design. Unrecorded work is movement outside the project boundaries; it is measured once. Overbreak is not the opposite of underbreak — it is a defect that cannot be put back.

Can I get ore and waste tonnage?

Open in block model opens the selected project's T0 → last survey interval, or a selected period, in the Block Model together with the project boundary; ore and waste tonnage are read there.
